Youth in Policing Hosts Special Olympics Basketball Event

The Youth in Policing (YIP) Initiative organized by the Durham Region Police Service hosted a Basketball Tournament for the Special Olympics on February 8, 2025. The event was held on a Saturday and featured young athletes from various parts of the Durham Region. It was open to participants with different skill levels, providing an environment for both competition and community interaction.

Both YIP students and officers from the Durham Region Police Service participated in the event. They engaged actively with the athletes, promoting teamwork through play and structured activities.

The tournament serves as part of the ongoing efforts by the Youth in Policing Initiative to engage local youth and foster community ties through sports. The event focused on creating a supportive and inclusive space for all participants.
