Woman Charged After Knife Incident at Ajax Plaza
On October 19, 2024, at approximately 2:55 p.m., police officers from the West Division responded to a report of an armed individual at the intersection of Harwood Avenue South and Kings Crescent in Ajax. A woman was allegedly seen waving a machete-style knife and pointing it at a man in a plaza. Upon arrival, officers took the woman into custody. The man involved in the incident was not physically injured.
The individual arrested has been identified as Kaley-Ann Freier, a 25-year-old resident of Toronto. She has been charged with possessing a weapon dangerous to the public. Following her arrest, Freier was released on an undertaking.
The Durham Regional Police Service is seeking any additional information related to this incident. Individuals with cell phone, dashcam, or surveillance footage are encouraged to contact Constable Fuller of the West Division. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, with the possibility of a cash reward for information leading to further developments in the case.
