Winter Warming Centre Approved in Clarington

The Clarington General Government Committee has sanctioned the use of the former Tourism Office at 181 Liberty Street South as a Winter Warming Centre. The facility will be operated by The Regional Municipality of Durham during the 2025-2026 winter season, from November to April, on a nominal lease agreement.

The Integrated Community Outreach Network in Clarington (ICONIC) has played a significant role in aiding individuals experiencing homelessness in the area. The organization is known for providing meals and fostering social connections within the community.

According to Sahar Foroutani from the Region of Durham, this initiative includes various outreach efforts aimed at supporting affected individuals, emphasizing the importance of addressing the needs of the homeless population in Clarington.
