Whitby Resident Charged After Alleged Threats

On November 15, 2024, at approximately 7:25 a.m., officers from the Central West Division responded to a report of an armed individual in the area of Dundas Street West and Palace Street, Whitby. The suspect was reportedly making threats from an apartment window toward another individual in a parking lot.

Upon arrival, police contained the area and attempted negotiations. With assistance from the Tactical Support Unit, officers entered the apartment and took the suspect into custody. No firearm was found during the search of the premises.

The individual, identified as William Joseph Bolton, age 33, from Whitby, faces charges of uttering threats, assault with a weapon, and breach of probation. Bolton was held for a bail hearing.

The Durham Regional Police Service encourages anyone with information about this incident to contact the Central West Division Criminal Investigations Branch.
