Whitby Man Charged After Human Trafficking Investigation in Oshawa

A 36-year-old man from Whitby has been charged following a human trafficking investigation in Oshawa, according to Durham Regional Police. The Human Trafficking Unit initiated the investigation after receiving information regarding the trafficking of a female victim in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police identified the accused as Jayson Lawton, age 36, of Whitby. Police state that Lawton was arrested on July 17, 2023, and is facing multiple charges, including human trafficking, receiving a material benefit from human trafficking, and advertising another person’s sexual services.

According to police, the investigation remains ongoing. The Durham Regional Police Service indicated they are seeking any further information from the public relevant to this case.
