Whitby Man Arrested Following Firearm Threats
A 35-year-old man from Whitby has been arrested following an incident involving a firearm. On November 14, 2024, the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at another individual and made threats. The incident occurred near Byron Street South and Victoria Street East in Whitby. The suspect and the victim were reportedly known to each other. The victim handed over a pack of cigarettes after being threatened.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was in the custodial care of Ontario Shores. A firearm, later identified as a replica, was located on the property of Ontario Shores.
The suspect, identified as Michael Phillip, was arrested on December 6, 2024, under a judge's order. He faces several charges, including uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, pointing a firearm, possessing a firearm while prohibited, and disobeying a lawful court order. Phillip was held for a bail hearing.
