Update on Salvation Army Services in Bowmanville

Yuri Castillo, Community Partner Liaison, and Allison Schizkoske, Director of Operations and Community Pastor for the Salvation Army, provided an update on the Salvation Army's services in Bowmanville during the General Government Committee meeting on September 11, 2023. Schizkoske highlighted the organization's mission and core values, along with the various programs and services offered. She emphasized the need to increase housing support services, particularly due to the impact of the Mental Health Crisis on the community. Schizkoske noted the necessity to expand food services and enhance support in other areas. Funding challenges were acknowledged, and there is hope for increased support through future campaigns. The Salvation Army aims to partner with the Region of Durham and the Municipality to extend additional services to Bowmanville and surrounding areas.
