Two Youths Charged After Knife Threats in Bowmanville
On November 5, 2024, two male youths were arrested in Bowmanville following an incident involving threats made with a knife. The event occurred around 2:20 p.m. near Clarington Boulevard and Stevens Road. The victim, who was approached by the suspects in a vehicle, managed to flee and contact the police. The suspects left the scene before police arrived.
A nearby secondary school was temporarily placed in a hold and secure status while officers searched for the suspects. The victim was unharmed physically. Further investigations connected this incident to a previous altercation involving the same individuals. The suspects were identified and apprehended by the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch without any issues.
The police have stated that this was an isolated incident and there are no ongoing public safety concerns. The suspects, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, both from Clarington, have been charged with uttering threats. They were released on an undertaking.
