Two Arrested in Oshawa for Drug Trafficking After 9-1-1 Call
On October 13, 2024, two men were arrested in Oshawa following a 9-1-1 call reporting an altercation. The incident occurred around 10:25 p.m. near Simcoe Street South and John Street. A witness observed two males following another male, which led to a confrontation. Upon arrival, police officers from the Central East Division found the two suspects in possession of drugs and weapons. The items seized included cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, a collapsible baton, a Conducted Energy Weapon, and knives.
The individuals arrested were identified as Omari Anderson, 25, from York, and Steven MacCarthy, 28, from Oshawa. Anderson faces charges including failing to comply with a release order, possessing weapons dangerous to public peace, possessing a prohibited weapon, and trafficking in Schedule I substances. MacCarthy is charged with breaching probation, possessing weapons dangerous to public peace, possessing a prohibited weapon, and trafficking in Schedule I substances.
Both suspects were held for bail hearings. The police have requested that anyone with information about this incident contact Constable Boyd of the Central East Division. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, with potential eligibility for a cash reward.
