Two Arrested Following Oshawa Shooting Investigation

On October 29, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Normandy Street and Nevis Avenue in Oshawa. The incident involved a suspect firing at a residence while the victim was outside. No injuries were reported. The suspect fled into a nearby residence.

On November 9, 2024, a search warrant was executed at an Airbnb in Niagara on the Lake, resulting in the arrest of two male suspects. The search led to the seizure of two handguns, a replica firearm, ammunition, and drugs.

Sameer Ahmad Mazlumyar, age 22, and Erick Jasiah Gomes, age 20, both from Oshawa, face multiple charges. Mazlumyar is charged with possessing a restricted/prohibited firearm without a license. Gomes faces charges including possession of restricted/prohibited firearms, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of drugs for trafficking, and other related offenses. Both suspects were held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking further information from the public.
