Transport Canada Constructs Prototype Building in Eight Days

Transport Canada has completed a prototype building at the drones and robotics test field on the grounds of the former Killaloe Airport. The structure, measuring 380 square feet, was constructed in eight days, a significant reduction compared to traditional construction timelines.

This project is part of Transport Canada's exploration into rapid construction technologies, which could be applied to utility and storage buildings, operation centres, outbuildings, and emergency response structures. Invest Ottawa is involved as the testing partner, assessing the building's durability and potential uses.

Funding for this initiative was provided by Innovative Solutions Canada. According to Anita Anand, Minister of Transport and Internal Trade, the building's performance in testing could lead to new opportunities for small airports and aerodromes.
