Traffic Stop in Oshawa Leads to Handgun and Drug Seizure
A male is in custody after a handgun and drugs were located during a traffic stop in Oshawa.
On Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 2:10 a.m., officers from the Central East division initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Simcoe Street South and Athol Street East. During the stop, officers observed open containers of alcohol in the vehicle and conducted a search of both the vehicle and its occupants. A handgun and drugs were discovered in the possession of one of the occupants, who was taken into custody without incident.
The individual, age 30, is charged with multiple offenses, including: - Carry Concealed Weapon - Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm - Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence - Possess Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered with - Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm - Possess Illicit Cannabis - Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking (cocaine) x2 - Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking (fentanyl) - Breach of Prohibition Order x2
He was held for a bail hearing.
