Traffic Stop in Oshawa Leads to Firearm Seizure and Arrests

On October 5, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., officers from the Central West Division conducted a traffic stop in Oshawa, near Thornton Road North and King Street West. During the stop, officers observed cannabis in the vehicle, leading to a search under the Cannabis Control Act. A firearm was found near the front passenger seat.

The vehicle's occupants, Anthony Omar Scott, 44, from Oshawa, and Jessica Marie Tripp, 32, from Ajax, were arrested. Scott faces charges including occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possessing a restricted firearm without a license, possessing a firearm while prohibited, and driving with cannabis readily available. Tripp is charged with occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm and possessing a restricted firearm without a license. Both individuals were held for a bail hearing.
