Traffic Improvement Options Approved for Solina Road

The General Government Committee approved several traffic improvement options for Solina Road during their meeting on March 21, 2022. The approved measures include: 1. Maintaining the NO HEAVY TRUCKS prohibition along Concession Road 6 and Concession Road 7 until after the Spring seasonal weight restrictions are lifted and site development grading in Oshawa is completed. Truck movements will be monitored, with consideration for making this regulation permanent. 2. Proceeding with the installation of red flashing beacons on the all-way stop signs at Concession Road 6 and Solina Road, funded at the discretion of the Director of Financial Services/Treasurer. 3. Consulting with the community regarding the installation of a paved shoulder for walking on the east side of Solina Road south of Concession Road 6, with costs included in the 2023 Public Works budget if supported by residents. 4. Scheduling the installation of seasonal rubber speed cushions on Concession Road 6 later in the Spring, along with a speed study and community consultation. 5. Forming a working group with interested residents from Solina to develop a permanent traffic calming design for Concession Road and Solina Road, with associated costs included in the 2023 Public Works budget if supported by the majority of the community. All interested parties will be advised of Council’s decision.
