Suspects Arrested after Attempted Vehicle Theft in Ajax

Authorities reported an attempted vehicle theft in Ajax, Ontario, early on March 2, 2025. The Durham Regional Police Service stated that officers responded to an incident in progress at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Pickett Street.

The response involved members of the West Division and the DRPS K9 Unit, which included Police Service Dog Brooks. Upon arrival, officers encountered two suspects fleeing the scene. PSD Brooks successfully tracked and detained one suspect, while the other was apprehended shortly afterwards nearby.

Ethan DEROSE, 19, with no fixed address, faces several charges, including Possession of an Electronic Device for Motor Vehicle Theft and Theft of Motor Vehicle. Mohamed NAOUAI, 18, from Quebec, is facing charges such as Failure to Comply with a Release Order and Theft of Motor Vehicle. Both individuals were held pending bail hearings.

These arrests were part of ongoing efforts by the police to address vehicle thefts in the region.
