Suspect Arrested in Connection with Stolen Machinery
An investigation by the North Division Criminal Investigations Bureau has led to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of stolen machinery valued over $24,000. The suspect, identified as Andrew Hausman, 35, from Toronto, is accused of committing multiple break-ins at businesses in the North Division area during October and November 2024. The stolen items were traced to a storage locker in Scarborough, where they were allegedly being sold online. A search warrant was executed, resulting in the recovery of the stolen machinery.
Hausman faces several charges, including three counts of possessing property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of trafficking property obtained by crime over $5,000, and failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing.
The Durham Regional Police Service is seeking additional information regarding this case. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact North Division. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, where tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
The allegations against Hausman have not yet been proven in court.
