Suspect Arrested After Stabbing Security Guard in Oshawa

A male suspect is in custody after allegedly stabbing a security guard during an altercation in Oshawa.

On Monday, August 19, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the Central East Division responded to a call about an armed person at a pizza restaurant located near Simcoe Street North and Beatrice Street East. The suspect, who was not permitted to be in the restaurant, was confronted by a security guard. A verbal disagreement ensued, resulting in the suspect stabbing the security guard.

The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Neil Francis Squires, age 50, of no fixed address, has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. He was held for a bail hearing.
