Statistics Canada Reports Decline in July 2024 Agricultural Prices

Statistics Canada has released its report on the monthly provincial prices received by farmers for July 2024. The data covers various agricultural products, including grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs, and dairy products.

The report indicates that durum wheat prices have decreased for the tenth consecutive month in Alberta and Saskatchewan, with significant year-over-year declines. This decrease is attributed to competition from exporting countries, such as Turkey. Barley prices also fell in most provinces, with Quebec being an exception.

Soybean prices saw a decline across major producing provinces, influenced by global supply pressures. Additionally, prices for lentils and dry peas decreased in the Prairie provinces, reflecting broader market conditions.

These statistics provide insight into the agricultural market dynamics affecting Canadian farmers, as reported by Statistics Canada.
