Stantec Selected for Bowmanville Hospital Redevelopment Planning and Design

Lakeridge Health has announced that Stantec will lead the Planning, Design, and Conformance (PDC) for the Bowmanville Hospital redevelopment project. This project is one of the largest redevelopment initiatives undertaken by Lakeridge Health.

The redevelopment aims to enhance healthcare access in Clarington and the surrounding Durham Region. Key features of the project include:

• An expansion of the hospital, nearly doubling its size to accommodate the growing healthcare needs of the region.
• A modern patient-centered design that includes private and bariatric rooms.
• A new parking garage to improve access for patients, visitors, staff, and volunteers.
• Additional green space to promote overall well-being.

Stantec's involvement includes engaging with nearly 30 user groups, such as clinical teams and hospital administration, to gather input on the hospital's specifications. This engagement is expected to play a crucial role in developing comprehensive plans and creating advanced mock-up renderings of the hospital.

Additionally, Lakeridge Health and Infrastructure Ontario are preparing to issue a request for qualifications for a build partner to design, build, and finance the project. Further updates and engagement opportunities will be provided to the community as the project progresses.
