Special Weather Statement Ended for Pickering, Oshawa, and Southern Durham
Environment Canada has ended the special weather statement for the Pickering, Oshawa, and Southern Durham Region. The statement was initially issued due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms that affected the area.
The region experienced significant rainfall, with some areas receiving over 100 mm of rain. This led to concerns about localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Residents were previously advised to avoid washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts, and to keep children and pets away from riverbanks.
The weather conditions have now improved, and the immediate threat of severe weather has passed. However, Environment Canada continues to monitor the situation and will issue further updates if necessary.
