Spay Neuter Initiatives Association Seeks Support from Clarington Council

The Spay Neuter Initiatives Association (SNIA) presented to the Clarington General Government Committee on December 2, 2024, requesting municipal support for their program. Martin Field, Chair of SNIA, outlined the association's services, which include a 100% subsidy for spaying and neutering pets of unhoused community members. Field proposed a funding model based on a metric of 5 cents per capita, which would amount to $5,376 for Clarington. The association highlighted the benefits of their program, referencing support from Whitby's Mayor's Community Development Fund. The request for a grant in 2025 was referred to staff for consideration under the Community Grant Program.
