Snow Removal Plan Approved for Clarington Trails

The General Government Committee of Clarington has approved a plan for snow removal on several local trails to enhance outdoor exercise opportunities during the winter season. The trails included in the plan are the Bowmanville Valley 2000 Trail, Soper Creek Trail in Bowmanville, and Farewell Creek Trail in Courtice. The resolution was moved by Councillor Jones and seconded by Councillor Neal, emphasizing the importance of outdoor exercise for physical and mental health, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Public Works Department has been directed to include these trails in the snow removal operations for the 2020/2021 winter season and to consider them for the 2021 budget. The original proposal included the Samuel Wilmot Nature Area Trail, but this was later removed from the final resolution. The decision was carried with a recorded vote of 6 in favor and 1 against.
