Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Pickering, Oshawa, and Southern Durham Region
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Pickering, Oshawa, and the Southern Durham Region. The watch is in effect as conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may produce strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

- Wind gusts up to 90 km/h
- Nickel size hail
- Heavy downpours
- Risk of tornadoes

Discussion:
- Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue tonight through Sunday. Rainfall rates could reach up to 50 mm per hour. A slight lull in activity is expected overnight before intensifying again on Sunday due to daytime heating. Conditions may rapidly change between sunny skies and heavy downpours. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to taper off to isolated showers by Monday morning.

- Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
- Avoid washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.
- Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.
- Consider moving valuable items to higher levels.
