Samuel Wilmot Nature Area Parking Lot and Trail Closure in Newcastle
The Samuel Wilmot Nature Area parking lot and a section of the waterfront trail in Newcastle will be temporarily closed. The closure will start on August 12, 2024, and is expected to last until November 11, 2024.
The Regional Municipality of Durham announced that the closure is necessary to replace the existing sanitary sewer forcemain and construct a new gravity sanitary sewer. Trail closure and detour signage will be present on-site to guide trail users.
