Road Closure for Veterans’ Square Ceremony in Bowmanville

Temperance Street in Bowmanville will be closed on October 15 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the reopening ceremony of Veterans’ Square. The closure will affect the area between Church Street and the cenotaph, with a soft closure at King Street West. Hard closures will prevent all traffic, including emergency vehicles, from passing, while soft closures will allow local access up to the hard closure points.

The ceremony, organized by The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178, will begin at 1 p.m. and include several activities such as the marching of troops, a land acknowledgment, and the placing of wreaths. The newly renovated Veterans’ Square now features five flag poles, raised gardens, accessible seating, paved pathways, a service animal relief area, and charging stations for mobility devices.

Parking will be available on nearby streets and in municipal lots. The renovations aim to provide a more accessible space for the community to honor military service members.
