Recall Issued for Black Forest Ham Sandwich Over Listeria Concerns

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall for the Cuisine Fraicheur Urbaine brand Black Forest Ham Sandwich due to a risk of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The product in question is the 179-gram sandwich, bearing UPC 0 639725 401603 with a best before date of 25 April 2016. Consumers in possession of this product should not consume it. These sandwiches were distributed exclusively in Quebec.

Consumption of products contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can lead to severe health complications, particularly in pregnant women, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems. To date, there have been no reported illnesses linked to this product.

The recall was prompted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, which continues to oversee and implement food safety investigations as the situation develops.

Consumers are advised to check their homes for the recalled product and adhere strictly to any disposal instructions or health directives provided by health authorities.
