Rainfall Warning Ended for Pickering, Oshawa, and Southern Durham Region

Environment Canada has ended the rainfall warning for Pickering, Oshawa, and the Southern Durham Region. The warning was initially issued due to heavy rainfall and the potential for localized flooding. Residents are no longer under any weather alerts as of 7:10 PM EDT on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

The rainfall warning was in effect due to heavy rain that caused the ground to become saturated, leading to concerns about additional rainfall and flooding. The warning included hazards such as additional rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm and rainfall rates of up to 40 mm per hour. Showers and thunderstorms were expected to continue through the day, with conditions expected to improve by the evening.

For further information on flooding, residents were advised to consult their local Conservation Authority or the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. Environment Canada also encouraged residents to continue monitoring weather alerts and forecasts.
