Proposal for Establishing a Cricket Ground in Bowmanville

Pankaj Panchal and Jay Sharma from Unity in Diversity presented a proposal to establish a cricket ground in Bowmanville during the General Government Committee meeting on June 3, 2024. Panchal highlighted the growing interest in cricket within the community and noted that existing grounds in Oshawa and Whitby are frequently booked, indicating a need for additional facilities. He stated that the population in the area is rapidly increasing, further necessitating the establishment of a dedicated cricket ground. The proposed location for the cricket ground is Lord Elgin Park, which was described as flat, grassy, centrally located, and meeting all necessary criteria. Panchal requested that the project be completed by the end of July 2024 and sought support from the Members of Council. The committee resolved to receive the delegation and to consider existing and potential future sites for a cricket ground as part of the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Master Plan.
