Prestige, Aerco Boilers Recalled Over CO Poisoning Risk
The Government of Canada has announced a recall of certain gas boiler models due to a carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning risk. The affected models include Prestige Solo, Prestige Excellence, and Aerco Esteem gas boilers. These products pose a potential danger due to delayed ignitions or component damage, which can lead to the emission of carbon monoxide.
There have been no reports of carbon monoxide leaks, injuries, or fatalities linked to these boilers in Canada. Nonetheless, in the United States, there have been 25 reports of carbon monoxide leaks and 2 associated deaths.
Consumers who own the specified boiler models are advised to cease operation immediately and contact the manufacturer for guidance on inspection or replacement.
Further details and specific model numbers can be found on Canada's official consumer product recalls website.
