Port Granby Project Annual Update

Mark Hughey, General Manager of the Port Hope Area Initiative at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, provided an annual update on the Port Granby Project during the General Government Committee meeting on September 27, 2021. He reported that the project has successfully completed the engineered storage mound and transferred the final truckload of waste to the new facility. Looking ahead, Hughey discussed the next steps, which include Phase 3, focusing on long-term monitoring, and mentioned a proposal for a nature preserve along with a license renewal process, inviting public comments on the renewal.
