Police Seek Suspect After Gunfire Incident in Oshawa
On the evening of October 29, 2024, gunshots were reported in the area of Normandy Street and Nevis Avenue, Oshawa. Durham Region Police responded to the scene at approximately 4:45 p.m. A suspect fired multiple shots at a residence while a victim was sitting outside. The suspect then fled into a nearby house. No injuries were reported.
Upon arrival, officers found several shell casings and bullet holes in the residence. The suspect was not located at the scene. The following day, police executed a search warrant at the residence the suspect had entered, seizing four handgun magazines and rounds.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Erick Gomes, 20, of Oshawa. He faces charges including discharging a firearm with intent to wound or endanger life, possessing a loaded restricted/prohibited firearm, and uttering threats of death or bodily harm.
