Police Seek Information on Clarington Pedestrian Fatality

On December 8, 2024, a pedestrian was found deceased in a ditch along Regional Highway 2, east of Stapleton Road in Clarington. The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) reported that the incident occurred during a snow event on the evening of December 7, 2024. The victim, a 31-year-old male, was struck by an eastbound vehicle while walking on the roadside.

The DRPS is seeking assistance from the public for any dashcam footage or witness accounts from the area between Morgans Road and Reids Road during the specified timeframe. The Collision Investigation Unit is handling the investigation, and the highway was closed for several hours for evidence collection.

Police are working to notify the next of kin. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit.
