Police Respond to Gunshots and Discover Cannabis Operation in Cannington
On December 16, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers from North Division responded to a report of an armed individual in Cannington. The incident took place near Peace Street and Davidson Street. Upon arrival, officers reviewed video footage that captured the sound of 15 gunshots.
Police located a scene and recovered shell casings. According to the Durham Region Police Service, they consider this to be an isolated incident. During the investigation, officers discovered a Cannabis grow operation at a warehouse on Davidson Drive, which contained plants exceeding the licensed amount.
The police seized nearly 29,000 Cannabis plants and dried Cannabis from the site. The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking information from the public to assist in the case. Residents with information are encouraged to contact the Durham Region Police Service.
