Police Investigate Double Shooting Incidents in Ajax

On the night of December 12, 2024, police responded to reports of gunshots in Ajax, specifically in the area of Wilsongary Circle and Urwin Street. Officers discovered a residence with bullet holes in the front door. Shortly thereafter, a second shooting was reported at a property approximately one kilometer away on Decourcy-Ireland Circle and Pointer Lane, also showing bullet damage.

Security footage indicates that both incidents occurred within minutes of each other. A white Honda SUV was seen in the vicinity, and a suspect was captured on video wearing black clothing and a black medical mask.

Residents were present at both locations during the shootings, but no injuries were reported. The police are seeking assistance from the public for any additional information or video evidence related to these events.

These incidents are believed to be connected to ongoing violence related to the tow truck industry in the Greater Toronto Area. The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has noted that while most tow truck operators are not involved in criminal activities, some are suspected of organized crime involvement.

The DRPS is urging anyone with information to contact Detective Constable McCubbin of the West Criminal Investigations Branch. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, with potential eligibility for a cash reward.
