Police Investigate Arson Incident in Whitby, Request Public Help

Arson Investigation Underway in Whitby; Police Seek Public Assistance

In the early morning of February 11, 2025, an arson incident was reported on the front porch of a residence in the area of Rivers Edge Place and Fairmount Drive in Whitby. The Durham Regional Police Service responded to the incident at approximately 1:20 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers used a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze. During their investigation, police discovered a container containing a flammable liquid on the porch, in addition to a broken window at the residence. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in gathering information about this event. They request that witnesses or individuals with pertinent video footage contact the police to help further the investigation.
