Playground Upgrades Approved for Clarington

The General Government Committee of Clarington has approved a plan for playground upgrades and replacements over the next five years. This decision was made during the meeting held on November 29, 2021, where the committee received Report PWD-031-21, which outlined the playground inventory and upgrade recommendations. The approved upgrades and replacements are detailed in Table 1 of the report. The anticipated community benefits of these upgrades include improved safety and accessibility for children, enhanced recreational opportunities for families, and increased community engagement in outdoor activities. The upgrades are part of a broader initiative to address outdoor recreational demands as outlined in the Clarington Outdoor Recreation Needs Assessment (ORNA) approved by Council in June 2020, which anticipates population growth and the need for improved recreational facilities over the next 15 years.
