Pedestrian Injured in Uxbridge Multi-Vehicle Collision
On February 18, 2025, a pedestrian was seriously injured following a multi-car collision on Regional Road 1 near Fowlers Road in Uxbridge. According to the Durham Region Police Service (DRPS), the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. in snowy weather conditions that caused limited visibility.
The collision involved nine vehicles after a Kia sedan halted due to the weather and was subsequently struck from behind, leading to a chain reaction. During the incident, a 20-year-old male left his vehicle to offer assistance and was hit by a pickup truck, causing him to fall into a snowbank.
Emergency services, including Uxbridge Fire, York, and Durham EMS, arrived at the scene. A male pedestrian was airlifted by ORNGE Air Ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma center, suffering from serious life-altering injuries. Other involved drivers received minor injuries and were treated at local hospitals.
The Collision Investigation Unit of the DRPS investigated the scene for several hours. Regional Road 1 was closed while evidence was collected. The investigation by DRPS continues, and they encourage anyone with information to contact Sgt. Ashfield of the Collision Investigation Unit.
