Overview of Playground Assessment in Clarington

The General Government Committee of Clarington has approved a resolution to conduct an assessment of all playgrounds in the municipality. This assessment will focus on several key criteria: safety and accessibility, repairs and maintenance, the character of the neighboring community, usage patterns, and innovative equipment options. The decision was made following discussions during the 2021 budget regarding the condition of playgrounds, with particular attention to older playgrounds that require repairs and upgrades. The assessment is expected to provide insights into potential improvements, including the introduction of new playground equipment such as outdoor gym facilities and ziplines, tailored to the needs of the community. Staff will report back to the General Government Committee in November 2021 with the findings of the assessment.
