Over 500 East Ottawa Students Receive Graduation Attire Through Gowns for Grads in 2024

The Gowns for Grads program in east Ottawa provided formal attire to more than 500 high school students during the 2024 graduation season, according to program organizers. This figure represents the largest number of students served in a single year since the initiative began.

Gowns for Grads collects and distributes donated gowns, suits, shoes, and accessories to students who may not have access to graduation clothing. Organizers stated that donations are gathered from community members and distributed by volunteers ahead of school graduation ceremonies.

The program operates annually and reports that in 2024 every student who requested assistance received attire for their graduation event. Organizers indicated that the demand this year was higher than in previous years, resulting in the record number of students served.

Donations are accepted throughout the year and are distributed at organized sessions in east Ottawa. The program announcement did not mention any direct involvement from Clarington students or schools in this year’s activities.
