Over 150 Students from Durham Region Attend Health Care Career Event
More than 150 high school students from Durham Region, including Clarington, attended the Pathways to Care event at Ajax Pickering Hospital on June 11. The event was organized by Lakeridge Health and offered students the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions introducing various health care professions.
According to a Lakeridge Health media release, students engaged in hands-on demonstrations and spoke with health care professionals from fields such as nursing, laboratory technology, and diagnostic imaging. The event was designed to provide information about career paths within the health care sector.
This is the second year that Lakeridge Health has held the Pathways to Care event. Organizers stated that the aim is to offer students direct exposure to the working environment found in hospitals and other health care settings.
Participants included students from a range of local high schools. Lakeridge Health reported that the event was developed to address questions students may have about health care careers and to provide practical information about educational and job opportunities.
