Oshawa Man Charged in Air Conditioning Unit Thefts
Michael De Laurentiis, a 41-year-old male without a fixed address, faces several charges following incidents of theft involving air conditioning units in Oshawa. The Durham Region Police Service has charged De Laurentiis in connection to incidents at 214 Simcoe Street North, where copper and aluminum were allegedly removed from dismantled units.
De Laurentiis is charged with Mischief/Damage to Property Over $5000, Theft Under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, and Failure to Comply with a probation order. After being detained, De Laurentiis was released under an undertaking.
The police have noted an increase in thefts targeting air conditioning units and are continuing investigations. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities to help police efforts, with information being accepted through direct police contact channels or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
