Oshawa Man Arrested for Historical Sexual Assaults
A 66-year-old man from Oshawa has been arrested in connection with a series of sexual assaults that reportedly occurred from 1996 to the present. The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) initiated an investigation in February 2024 after an adult came forward to report historical sexual assaults that began when they were a minor. The arrest took place on October 9, 2024.
The accused faces multiple charges, including four counts of sexual assault and sexual exploitation. Authorities have not released the name of the accused to protect the identity of the victim. Police have indicated that they believe this incident to be isolated.
The DRPS collaborates with the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Care Centre and Victim Services to support victims of sexual assault. Individuals who have experienced sexual assault are encouraged to contact the police or Victim Services of Durham Region for confidential support.
