Orono Arena Reopens After $3 Million Renovation

The Orono Arena has reopened following a $3 million renovation. The upgrades include a new refrigerated floor under the ice pad, updated changing rooms and shower areas, and new rubber flooring throughout the facility. Additionally, the ice pad has been fitted with new rink boards and a heated penalty box. These improvements are expected to extend the arena's lifespan by 15 years.

The reopening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Adrian Foster, members of the Council, and representatives from the Orono Amateur Athletic Association. A free public skate was held to celebrate the occasion.

Mayor Adrian Foster stated that the arena is a key facility for the community, providing a space for young children to learn to skate, local athletes to train, and families to create lasting memories. Allen Lagace, President of the Orono Amateur Athletic Association, expressed pride in the completed renovations and the opportunity to celebrate with the community.
