Orono Arena Reopening with Free Public Skate Event
Renovations at Orono Arena have been completed, and a free public skate event is scheduled for Saturday, September 28, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. and complimentary hot chocolate for attendees.
The arena underwent a $3 million renovation project that included several upgrades:
- Replacement of the refrigerated floor under the ice pad
- Upgrades to changing rooms and shower areas
- Replacement of rubber flooring throughout the arena
- Installation of new rink boards and a heated penalty box
These improvements are intended to extend the lifespan of the arena by an additional 15 years. The arena is located at 2 Princess Street, Orono, Clarington.
