Organizations Benefiting from the Thriving Communities Fund

The Region of Durham has allocated nearly $500,000 through the Thriving Communities Fund to support various non-profit organizations aimed at preventing or reducing poverty. The following organizations have received funding:

  1. Blue Door - Focuses on providing shelter and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The funding will enhance their outreach programs.
  2. Community Development Council Durham - Works to improve the quality of life for residents through various community initiatives. The funding will support their food security programs.
  3. Feed the Need in Durham - Aims to alleviate hunger by distributing food to those in need. The funding will help expand their food distribution network.
  4. Durham Community Action Group - Engages in advocacy and support for low-income families. The funding will be used for community workshops and resources.
  5. Back Door Mission for the Relief of Poverty - Provides meals and support services to those in need. The funding will enhance their meal programs.
  6. AIDS Committee of Durham Region - Offers support and resources for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. The funding will support their health services.
  7. Bowmanville Older Adults Association - Focuses on improving the lives of older adults through social and recreational activities. The funding will support their community programs.
  8. Girls Inc. Durham - Empowers young girls through educational programs. The funding will enhance their mentoring and leadership initiatives.
  9. Brock Community Food Bank - Provides food assistance to local families. The funding will help increase their food supply.
  10. Christian Faith Outreach Centre - Offers various community services including food assistance. The funding will support their outreach efforts.
  11. Redemption House of Recovery - Provides support for individuals recovering from addiction. The funding will enhance their recovery programs.
  12. Durham Workforce Authority - Focuses on employment and training services. The funding will support job training programs for vulnerable populations.

The Thriving Communities Fund aims to address food security, mental health, and employment opportunities, while also supporting capacity building in the non-profit sector.
