Ontario Ministry Seizes Over Ten Million Unmarked Cigarettes
The Ontario Ministry of Finance conducted tobacco enforcement operations on October 22, November 22, and November 26, resulting in the seizure of over ten million unmarked cigarettes. Specifically, 10,226,625 unmarked cigarettes were confiscated, along with approximately 175,000 counterfeit Ontario cigarette tax stamps and equipment used for counterfeiting cigarette packages.
As a result of these operations, three individuals have been charged under the Tobacco Tax Act. The Ministry of Finance has not provided further details about the individuals charged or the specific locations of the seizures.
These operations are part of ongoing efforts to enforce tobacco regulations and address illegal activities related to tobacco products within the province.
