Ontario Government Begins Distribution of $200 Rebate Cheques

The Ontario government has commenced the distribution of $200 rebate cheques to taxpayers and their eligible children. This measure is intended to alleviate the financial burden associated with the federal carbon tax and high interest rates. The cheques are anticipated to arrive for families in the upcoming weeks.

Eligibility for the rebate requires individuals to have been 18 years or older and residents of Ontario as of December 31, 2023. They must not be bankrupt or incarcerated in 2024 and should have filed a 2023 Income Tax and Benefits Return by December 31, 2024. Families receiving the Canada Child Benefit will receive an additional $200 per eligible child under 18. For example, a family with two adults and three children will receive a total of $1,000.
