Ontario Evaluates Nuclear Energy Project in Port Hope
The Ontario government is evaluating the potential for new nuclear energy generation at the Wesleyville site in Port Hope. This initiative is in response to projected increases in electricity demand, which Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator estimates will rise by 75% by 2050. Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has been tasked with assessing this potential, following interest from the Municipality of Port Hope and the Williams Treaties First Nations.
