Ontario Approves Plan for Pickering Nuclear Station Refurbishment

The Ontario government has given the green light for Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to move forward with the Project Definition Phase of refurbishing the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station's "B" units. This phase is a preparatory step for the refurbishment, which aims to enhance power generation capacity and create employment opportunities across the province.

As part of this initiative, OPG has been authorized to enter into a $2.1 billion contract with CanAtom for early engineering and procurement activities. This contract is projected to generate over 2,400 jobs throughout Ontario.
