Ontario Announces $260 Million Investment in Skills Training

The Ontario government has announced the fifth round of its Skills Development Fund (SDF), making available up to $260 million in funding. This is the largest investment in skills training in the province's history.

The fund aims to address the labor shortage by connecting job seekers with employers in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, and technology. Eligible entities, including employers, training providers, and community organizations, are encouraged to submit proposals through Transfer Payment Ontario. Applications will be reviewed until October 4, 2024.

This round of funding brings Ontario's total investment through the SDF to up to $1.4 billion. The fund is designed to ensure that skilled workers are trained and ready to fill jobs in high-demand sectors in their communities.
